
Ziem Calls on Finance Ministry to Provide Incentives in 2014 Budget

The Zambia Institute of Environmental Management- ZIEM- has called on the Ministry of Finance to provide incentives in the 2014 national Budget that shall allow Zambians pay less when importing new motor vehicles.
ZIEM Chief Executive Officer Morgan Katati says the influx of second hand vehicles in the country is worrying as its environmental impact is huge on the country’s economy.

INTEGRATING climate change adaptation considerations into policy processes and decision-making is critical in managing the impacts of climate change, says ZIEM.
Zambia Institute of Environmental Management (ZIEM) environmental resource mobilisation specialist Charles Mulenga yesterday said that Zambia required substantial financial assistance for adaptation, technology cooperation and mitigation of climate change.
Mulenga said arrangements under the climate change convention and its Kyoto Protocol second commitment needed to be fully implemented and additional funds made available to support climate change actions in the context of sustainable development process, especially in connection to adaptation to climate change.

ZIEM calls for action to save forestry resources

THE Zambia Institute of Environmental Management (ZIEM) has called for a comprehensive energy transformation in order to save the energy and forestry resources.
In a statement, ZIEM chief executive officer Morgan Katati said Zambia was rapidly expanding its energy use, mainly driven by fossil fuels as seen by the number of service stations being established in the country.
