Environmental Impact Assement (EIA)
EIA is the process of identifying, predicting, evaluating and mitigating all relevant effects of development proposals on the environment prior to major decisions being taken.
It involves thorough screening and scoping of the proposed project, to ensure that all aspects are completely taken care of.
EIAs are conducted on large projects involving large communities. For small localized projects, an ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT BRIEF (EPB) is conducted.

Why Conduct an EIA/EPB?
The EIA process is a statutory requirement as outlined by SI No. 28 of 1997, of the Environmental Management Act (EMA) of 2011.
